Superbike rider returns to action

A superbike rider, who puts part of his success down to the use of oxygen equipment, is ready to compete again following injury.

Simon Andrews was out for ten weeks with a broken heel that he sustained at the World Superbikes in Valencia, but returned to competition at Mallory Park, where he finished seventh in two races, the Evesham Journal reports.

The 26-year-old said he is taking his return one step at a time and added his foot is likely to be re-built at the end of the current season.

Andrews had previously stated oxygen bottles are his secret weapon when it comes to racing.

"Oxyfit gives me the benefits of faster recovery, more alertness, being able to train harder and being able to train longer," he explained.

The athlete rides for MSS Colchester Kawasaki and was tipped to be one of the leading contenders in the 2010 MCE British Superbike Championship.
