Superbike rider recovers from injury 'thanks to oxygen therapy'

A British Superbike rider has used oxygen therapy to help him recover from serious injury.

Steve Brogan utilised the oxygen equipment as part of his rehabilitation after suffering a fractured vertebrae and ligament damage to his thumb while competing at Mallory Park, the Mirror reports.

When asked how his recuperation was going, the athlete commented: "Things are going well. I've had lots of physiotherapy and I spent a total of 12 hours inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber on the Isle of Man."

Brogan said the treatment has "done wonders" as it can almost double the rate a competitor can heal from such bodily damage.

He now feels great because of the therapy and is strong and ready to race, the star added.

A fellow superbike racer - and known oxygen equipment advocate - Simon Andrews also recently returned to the track after spending ten weeks out with a broken heel.
