Simon Andrews accredits Superbike comeback to oxygen equipment

Superbike rider Simon Andrews has credited his recovery from injury to his use of oxygen equipment.

The racer has been using OXYfit - oxygen in a bottle - to help him return to action following a crash earlier in the season, Superbike News reports.

As a result of the collision, Andrews broke all the metatarsal bones in his left foot, as well as his heel, when he hit the barriers at 158 mph during a British Superbike Championship contest.

The athlete said using OXYfit had been a crucial part of his recovery and training regime.

"In the week before my first race back, [I used] it for several minutes every day while my foot was compressed with ice after use," he explained.

Andrews added he also utilises the product to help his body rejuvenate following training sessions.

Another Superbike contestant, Steve Brogan, recently revealed he spent 12 hours in an oxygen chamber to help him recover from a fractured vertebrae.
