Pure oxygen 'can boost brain performance'

Breathing oxygen-enriched air could help students achieve better grades in their exams, as one medical expert has said that oxygen can boost brain performance.
Andrew Scholey, director of the Human Cognitive Neuroscience unit at the University of Northumbria, found that those who ingested glucose or breathed oxygen-enriched air saw their cognitive function increase.
His team monitored students playing Tetris and discovered that as they reached the harder levels, breathing oxygen-enriched air helped them perform better.
"We found a dose of oxygen or glucose can improve performance on tasks that require a great deal of mental effort," Dr Scholey concluded.
As well as boosting cognitive function, pure oxygen can also do wonders for one's physical health, with yoga instructor Kassandra Murray telling the Canadian Press that it goes hand-in-hand with meditative practices.
She pointed to the fact that it helps wounds heal and kills germs as evidence of its life-boosting properties.
