Professional fighters favouring portable oxygen?

Portable oxygen may be used by some professional fighters to improve their endurance during bouts.

According to middleeasy.com, the substance was used by mixed martial arts competitors King Mo and KJ Noons of the Strikeforce organisation during their match-ups at a contest.

The website noted both athletes used portable oxygen to help face their different opponents at an event in Houston.

It said of the substance: "When ingested, [it] could considerably improve an athlete's stamina and cardio."

The more oxygen a fighter consumes, the more up-tempo his pace will remain throughout the contest, the portal added.

It noted the fighters used the substance before their matches began, as King Mo battled Rafael Cavalcante and KJ Noons squared up against Jorge Gurgel.

Oxygen equipment recently enabled Derby County footballer Tomasz Cywka to play on after the striker suffered a fractured cheekbone following a collision during his side's 2-1 home defeat against Cardiff City.
