Portable oxygen to reduce snoring?

People may wish to buy oxygen in an attempt to rid themselves of their snoring habits - providing relief for both themselves and their partners.

According to the Times of India, snoring is a sign of sleep apnoea and not an indicator of sound shut-eye, as previously believed.

The newspaper noted muscles in the upper airway relax when people doze off, causing the breathing passage to become more closed.

"As air tries to pass through the narrowed upper airways, they vibrate, making the sound of snoring," the source explained.

It observed these passages can get blocked, often hundreds of times every night, as the condition gets worse - and this is obstructive sleep apnoea.

The information outlet explained the ailment is most commonly seen in middle-aged men but added it can also affect women.

Researchers from Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women's Hospital recently announced they have discovered a link between pollution levels and increased instances of sleep apnoea.
