Portable oxygen to increase child alertness?

Children who have more oxygen flowing in their bodies may be more proactive in school, it has been suggested.

Dylan William, deputy director of the Institute of Education, noted kids who exercise at the beginning of the day may be more alert when in the classroom, the BBC reports.

Portable oxygen may therefore be a solution to youngsters who do not have the time to take part in physical activity.

The professor said: "Pupils spend a lot of time writing and very little time getting out of breath. But research shows increasing oxygen levels in the brain can boost alertness."

He added some children who tried the new morning exercise reported the increased oxygen flow did make them feel more energised before taking to their schoolwork.

Dr Robert Rosenberg, a board-certified sleep medicine specialist, recently claimed portable oxygen could prove advantageous for people with poor sleeping practices who would like to snooze for longer periods of time.
