Portable oxygen to help overweight teens?

Overweight teenagers who suffer from sleep apnoea may wish to buy oxygen in an attempt to improve their sleeping practices.

According to the Daily Mail, 14-year-old Bethany Wilkinson from Preston - weighing 16 stone - is at risk when in bed as she often experiences the potentially deadly disorder at night.

The teen wears size 20 clothes and the newspaper observed her sleep apnoea is made worse buy her excess weight - suggesting portable oxygen may help her cause as she aims to shed five stone in one year.

Speaking of her reaction to learning she had the condition, Ms Wilkinson said: "I was shocked, I thought it was something that happened to older people. I did not realise anybody could get it."

Writing recently for the Daily Telegraph, Maria Fitzpatrick observed properly breathing oxygen can have many health benefits, including decreased anxiety, enhanced energy levels and pain and stress relief.
