Portable oxygen to give the benefits of yoga?

Yoga fans who find themselves too busy to regularly participate in the exercise may want to turn their attentions to portable oxygen.

According to AsiaOne Health, one of the main benefits of yoga is it can improve the metabolisation of oxygen - suggesting portable cylinders of the substance might give the same effect.

The source noted oxygen is distributed through the body as energy and when stretching a muscle, the response of the body is to send more oxygenated blood to that region.

"Oxygen helps the muscles stay active longer and it helps flush out excess lactic acid, which is produced in muscle tissues after strenuous exercise and which gives you soreness," it explained.

The publication added the health benefits of such a practice have been scientifically recorded.

It was recently revealed long-distance runner Betsy Suda re-energised by using extra oxygen after collapsing over the finish line of a five kilometre race.
