Portable oxygen to ease uphill cycling?

Cyclists looking to conquer routes with steep uphill climbs may want to consider using portable oxygen to help them overcome the challenge.
Writing for bikeradar.com, Jamie Wilkins noted a racer requires plenty of oxygen to overcome tough terrains.
The specialist stated a hilly course means a rider's body has to work extra hard.
"Your muscles have to burn more energy using oxygen from your blood, your heart rate and breathing rate have to increase to deliver the extra oxygen needed," he explained.
Mr Wilkins claimed this exertion can make a cyclist become hot, sweaty and flushed as their body temperature increases and blood is diverted towards the skin to radiate away heat.
A further push could result in over-production of lactic acid, creating more of the substance than the body can handle.
Bettor.com contributor Morgan Freeman recently observed sprinters tend to slow down after having covered 300 metres as their body begins to run out of oxygen.
