Portable oxygen 'favoured by athletes'

An increasing number of sportsmen and women may wish to buy oxygen as the substance is perceived to bring numerous benefits, it has been suggested.

Writing for News-Press.com, Elaine Hastings noted many people believe portable oxygen can help oxidise lactic acid to prevent sore muscles.

The journalist claimed: "It's easy to understand why athletes gravitate towards a health trend such as simple oxygen.

The substance may also reduce swelling and bruising, as well as soothe painful injuries and speed up the recovery process, she explained.

Ms Hastings noted Tiger Woods has had an oxygen therapy room built in to his home gymnasium - proving oxygen equipment is being favoured by those at the pinnacle of the sporting world.

Reporting recently for Competitor Runnning, Tawnee Prazak likened oxygen to gold in its worth for endurance athletes, as it is the fuel that enable them to compete over long distances at high speeds.
