Portable oxygen 'can rejuvenate tired athletes'

Tired athletes looking to rejuvenate their bodies after a hard spot of physical activity might want to try portable oxygen.

Long-distance runner Betsy Suda used the substance after finishing first in the women's division at the Yankee Homecoming 5K in the US, newburyportnews.com reports.

It was the second year in a row Ms Suda won the challenge.

And so intense was her performance that she collapsed over the finish line after completing the course in a time of 18 minutes 16 seconds.

The source noted: "With a bit of water and some extra oxygen, Suda was quickly back to her jubilant self."

Ms Suda described the contest as a special event and said it was heart-warming to have the crowd cheer her on.

Writing for Competitor Running, Tawnee Prazak recently described oxygen as being as valuable as gold to people who perform in long-distance endurance events and require as much energy as they can get.
