Pollution levels in Worcester city centre 'unlikely to change'

Proposals to regulate the amount of traffic travelling through Worcester city centre have been met with a luke-warm response, meaning people may want to invest in a pure oxygen canister to boost their health.
City and county councillor Alan Amos suggested that more parts of the centre be pedestrianised, bus lanes expanded and car traffic being diverted down certain streets, Worcester News reports.
He said that by implementing these changes the level of pollution in the city would fall.
However, councillor Derek Prodger told the news provider that the plans are unlikely to come to fruition, meaning locals may want to invest in a portable oxygen canister to breathe cleaner air.
"I'm concerned about the sustainability of Worcester - it's fragile as it is - and to do something like this is far too much of a risk," he said.
According to the Air Quality Monitoring Report, Belfast has elevated levels of nitrogen oxide and environment minister Edwin Poots has vowed to improve the situation.
