Oxygen treatment 'hoped to improve twins' immune system'

A pair of three-year-old twins are being administered with oxygen treatment in the hope that it will improve their immune systems, it has been reported.
Paige and Ella Hirschey were diagnosed with bronchopulmonary dysplasia when they were born, a condition which can cause babies to experience respiratory problems, the Wahpeton Daily News states.
Since receiving intensive care for several months after they were born, the twins are now progressing to live a normal life, but their mother Christine Hirschey says they still occasionally require oxygen therapy while at home.
"They will always have the lingering effects of the lung disease," she explains. "We're hoping as they grow and their immune systems become stronger, they'll be able to fight more of this off."
Similarly, Leon Goodhew from Lincoln has been given a new lease of life after breathing oxygen-enriched air from a portable oxygen concentrator, the Lincolnshire Echo recently reported.
