Oxygen treatment helps firefighters treat young girl

Firefighters in Wigan have revealed that they were recently able to treat a young girl who was suffering from a convulsion by administering oxygen therapy to her.
Breathing oxygen-enriched air helped the 18-month-old child to recover from the fit, which occurred while she was sat in her mother's car on Sunday (March 7th), the Wigan Evening Post reported.
The girl was driven to Wigan Fire station, where crew commander Lewis Cross and firefighter Adrian Watson quickly administered oxygen therapy.
Crew commander Simon Connor said that the child's mother seemed to be extremely impressed by the firefighters' quick thinking.
"Her mother came back that night to say thanks," he advised.
The Daily Gleaner recently reported that firefighters helped to save a cat's life by giving it oxygen treatment, after it inhaled large quantities of smoke in a house fire.
Some fire departments in the US even have special masks designed to make it easier to supply cats and dogs with oxygen-enriched air.
