Oxygen treatment 'gives more restful sleep'

People who are suffering from disturbed sleep may be wise to opt for oxygen treatment, as it has been suggested the therapy can offer a more restful night's sleep.

The My Serious Medical Conditions blog states that one hour of breathing oxygen-enriched air will give those who find it difficult to drift off into a peaceful sleep an hour of "undisturbed relaxation and healing".

Furthermore, the blog suggests that oxygen can also be used to treat a variety of other ailments.

"Oxygen therapy will give you more energy, more restful sleep and is known to heal many skin disorders, chronic headaches, fatigue, depression and so much more," it advises.

Beccy Mullins, clinical nurse specialist at the Centre for Healthy Sleep, recently stated that oxygen therapy is recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence as the "gold standard" treatment for those suffering from sleep apnoea.

She explained the process involves a mask being worn every night to keep the airways open, while pressurised oxygen is delivered into the mouth.
