Oxygen therapy needed for trapped Eurostar passengers

Many people stuck in the Eurostar tunnel for hours may have needed oxygen therapy, after one passenger revealed that they were running out of oxygen.

Yvonne Lewis, 54, said her and her two grandchildren were stuck on one of the trains, telling the Mirror that staff told people not to breathe heavily as they were running out of oxygen.

The grandmother said that she was forced to kick down one door of the train after she saw that her family, Rhys, 10, and Ben, seven, were close to fainting.

"We were desperate as we couldn't breathe in there and it was like a sauna but all we were told on the intercom was to 'inhale less and keep seated'," Ms Lewis added.

Some passengers were trapped for 16 hours after five trains were stuck in the tunnel due to an electric failure. A total of 2,000 of people were trapped, with the freezing conditions being blamed for the breakdowns.ADNFCR-2960-ID-19524289-ADNFCR Bookmark and Share Subscribe to the News RSS feed
