Oxygen therapy helps woman overcome severe allergic reaction

Breathing oxygen-enriched air recently helped the treatment of a woman who suffered from a severe allergic reaction to a trace of mushroom in her food.

Natalie Moore realised that she was experiencing an allergic reaction after a rogue mushroom found its way into a meal she consumed at a restaurant in Nottingham with her parents, the Nottingham Evening Post reports.

In the hope of preventing Ms Moore from going into potentially fatal anaphylactic shock, the family hailed down a police car which whisked her off to the Queen's Medical Centre accident and emergency department.

After being administered with oxygen therapy and closely monitored by doctors, she was allowed to return home hours later.

"We are delighted with what was done," said Ms Moore's father Jeff. "It was frightening for us all."

Firefighters in Wigan were recently able to successfully treat a young girl who was suffering from a convulsion with oxygen therapy.
