Oxygen therapy 'helps man realise pilot dream'

A 53-year-old man with a lifelong dream of becoming an airplane pilot has finally realised his wish, thanks to oxygen therapy.
The Salina Journal reported that Michael Combs, who is currently preparing to set off on an inspirational tour of the United States next month, has used the treatment to improve his heart condition and achieve his long-standing goal.
Mr Combs, an author and life coach, credits breathing oxygen-enriched air and a move to Dallas - which has a lower altitude than his previous city, Denver - with improving his condition.
"I promised myself I would get better and live my life with no regret," he said.
Determined to overcome his condition and learn how to fly when he was let go from his job in December 2008, Mr Combs is now set to travel across all 50 states to inspire other people to follow their passions.
Those who suffer from altitude sickness may benefit from having an oxygen canister on-hand, as the gas is thought to reduce the effects of the illness, according to Medical News Today.
Inhaling oxygen-enriched air is one of the most effective ways of treating the condition, which often occurs when people ascend to high altitudes too rapidly.
