Oxygen therapy 'helps alleviate cluster headaches'

Those suffering from cluster headaches may find that breathing oxygen-enriched air could help their symptoms to be alleviated, a study has found.
Neurologist Dr Jessica Lee advises that research published in the journal of the American Medical Association showed that undergoing oxygen treatment can help patients suffering from debilitating headaches to get over their symptoms more speedily, wbztv.com reports.
"If they can get to their oxygen quickly and administer that quickly, then they can minimise their attack from a 3-hour attack to a 15-30 minute attack," she says.
Dr Lee explains that the treatment helps to alleviate the cause of the pain by opening up constricted blood vessels.
One patient who has recently swapped prescribed medication for breathing oxygen-enriched air is Dr Shining Sun. He states that his attacks have been cut down from hours to minutes and extolled the virtues of the therapy as "great".
Kristi Huddleston, owner of O2Cool Oxygen Bar in Florida, previously stated that her experience with pure oxygen left her feeling re-energised and fresh.
