Oxygen therapy had calming effect on trapped woman

Oxygen therapy has been used to help a woman who became distressed after being stuck in a lift.

Fire fighters gave the Newton Abbot woman the oxygen therapy to calm her down after rescuing her, the Herald Express reported.

Two people became trapped in the lift last weekend, leading to fire crews being called out.

The emergency services attended the scene at Pearl Assurance House, Courtenay Street, in Newton Abbot, helping the woman to overcome her panic.

One person who tried oxygen therapy recently said that it is "like meditation", making it ideal for relaxing.

Students at Oklahoma City University have been using the treatment to relax in the run-up to their exams.

An oxygen bar has been set up in the school, with nursing students Ryan Ponce and Tara Tahkofper telling NewsOK that focusing on their breathing helped to calm them down because "you're focusing on one action".ADNFCR-2960-ID-19518408-ADNFCR Bookmark and Share Subscribe to the News RSS feed
