Oxygen therapy for cluster headaches 'is safe and cheap'

Cluster headache sufferers could find that oxygen therapy is a cheap and effective way of eliminating the pain of the condition, it has been claimed.

Herb World stated that while there is no permanent cure for cluster headaches, breathing oxygen-enriched air is one way to alleviate their symptoms.

Usual headache remedies found in chemists and pharmacies provide little comfort for cluster headache sufferers, as they can come on quickly and without warning.

"This cluster headache treatment can give you … relief from the expected pain and you will feel the results within at least 15 minutes. The best part about this treatment is that there are no side effects and [it] is extremely safe," the source said.

Dr Peter Goadsby, from the Headache Center at the University of San Francisco, told delegates at the American Neurological Association's 133rd annual meeting that breathing oxygen-enriched air has been proven to relieve the pain of cluster headaches and should therefore be considered a first-line treatment.
