Oxygen news: Runners 'could enjoy the sites at Plymouth Half Marathon'

The Plymouth Half Marathon will take place on June 3rd, but visitors taking part in the race could make a weekend out of it.

Kirsty McLatchie, who is working on the event, said there are other local attractions in the area, recommending the newly launched River Cottage Canteen & Deli, which is located in Royal William Yard.

The establishment is owned by celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and provides "dramatic views" across its "stunning waterside location".

But people who cannot stay for long after the event need not feel like they have missed out on seeing the area, as the specialist said the race itself is a very pleasant one with plenty of sights along the way.

The course includes the promenade, where visitors can see the seafront, as well as cutting through Saltram Park, before ending in a historic area near Smeaton's Tower.

"It isn't the easiest route - there are a few local hills, but it does have one of the most stunning finishing lines on the Hoe looking out across the Sound," Ms McLatchie stated.

Those who want to enjoy the race and the views may find portable oxygen a helpful product to take along to keep them energised and encourage a fast recovery from the strenuous activity.

On day of the event, the organisers of the Plymouth Half Marathon suggest taking a hat and gloves, a sweatshirt, Vaseline, money, food and plasters as well as the more obvious equipment runners will need.
