Oxygen news: Eggs and fruit great for hangovers, expert says

People waking up for a hangover could get some relief from their malaise by using portable oxygen, but those who want to eat in the morning may need to follow some tips from a dietician.

Ai Jerome of Sydney Nutrition told the Sydney Morning Herald that eggs and fruit juices are helpful snacks for the morning after, but bacon is not a good idea.

"You want to be having something that contains salt, but you need to avoid too much fat, because it will probably make you feel more nauseous," he explained.

Instead of a heavy fry-up, he recommended poached or scrambled eggs, while glugging down a sugary coke was advised against, with a watermelon, mango, orange and berry fruit juice suggested instead.

These fruits have the high water content, folate and vitamin A and C need when hungover, while they are also rich in electrolytes, the specialist stated.

Yvonne Bishop-Weston, a Harley Street nutritionist, recently recommended eating protein-rich meals to line the stomach after drinking, with eggs and kippers both good breakfast choices.
