Oxygen 'is gold' for endurance athletes

Portable oxygen could be the ideal supplement for people looking to run long distances.
Writing for Competitor Running, Tawnee Prazak noted oxygen is essential for racers to compete at a high level.
The expert explained: "For endurance athletes, oxygen is gold. It's the fuel that allows us to sustain exercise for longer durations."
Without the substance, Ms Prazak observed competitors are forced to rely on anaerobic modes of producing energy, which are often quite pain-inducing.
She noted muscles involved in activity tend to suffer because they are not receiving as much oxygen from the blood as they require.
It suggests portable oxygen could be used to help the athletes cover longer courses at sustained high speeds.
Michelle Williams recently agreed in a San Diego Newsroom article oxygen provision is essential for runners.
She claimed people need to find other ways of gaining extra energy levels as not everybody is naturally fit.
