Oxygen equipment quickens Superbike rider's recovery

Oxygen equipment has enabled a Superbike rider to return to action much quicker than originally anticipated.

Randy De Puniet is set to feature in the Brno MotoGP just four weeks after suffering a double fracture of his left leg, Sport Rider reports.

The source noted the competitor should make the event, which takes place in the Czech Republic on August 13th to 15th, after receiving oxygen therapy.

According to the outlet: "The combination of increased pressure and maximum oxygen content dissolves the oxygen into the body's cells, tissues and fluids at up to ten times normal concentration."

The benefits of the treatment - described as one of the latest medical technologies - include greatly increased blood flow, as well as improved healing of bones and tissues, it added.

Fellow Superbike racer Simon Andrews recently revealed he was glad to be back on the circuit after oxygen therapy helped him recover from serious injury.
