Oxygen equipment may have eased Antonio Valencia's pain

Oxygen equipment has been used to help a Premier League football player suffering from a serious injury.

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia was administered oxygen after dislocating and fracturing his left ankle in a Champions League match against Rangers.

The oxygen equipment was used by medical staff to help ease the pain of the injury for the 25-year-old Ecuador international.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said the star could be out for the remainder of the season because of the incident.

"I'm afraid it looks really bad. He will be operated on and it's a bad blow," the Scot explained.

The game at Old Trafford finished 0-0 as the Red Devils struggled to find a way through the Scottish champions' backline.

Oxygen was also recently used to help Fulham striker Bobby Zamora.

The England international suffered a broken leg after a collision with Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Karl Henry in Premier League encounter at the weekend.
