Oxygen equipment 'helpful for stroke victims'

Oxygen equipment can be used to help in the recovery of stroke victims, it has been suggested.
According to the Jamaica Gleaner, oxygen therapy can greatly benefit such patients as it significantly increases the levels of the substance in the brain tissues - even where the circulation is low.
The newspaper explained: "The oxygen facilitates the growth of new blood vessels and increases cellular repair and healing."
This practice is a "truly exciting medical treatment" and is widely used in all hospitals in Cuba to care for sufferers of various illnesses and disorders, including strokes, the source added.
It observed the technology involved in the method has many uses, is extremely cost-effective and is readily available.
In a recent Daily Mail article, Dr Phil Bryson, director of the Diving Diseases Research Centre in Plymouth, claimed oxygen therapy can be a useful treatment to help cancer patients who have suffered adverse reactions to radiotherapy.
