Oxygen equipment 'can ensure a good night's sleep'

Individuals who suffer from sleepless nights might want to use oxygen equipment to help combat the disorder.

A US soldier has spoken of how oxygen therapy has enabled him to rid his nights of bad snoozing practices, the Scotland on Sunday reports.

Tony Smithwell served in Iraq and has been treated for post-traumatic stress disorder with additional oxygen at Castle Craig Hospital in Peebleshire, Scotland.

The serviceman noted: "I had bad sleeping habits, bad memories [and] racing thoughts. I would lay in bed and toss and turn, but now I can sleep just fine."

Receiving the oxygen therapy has also enabled him to think more clearly and better address the issues in his head that were previously "scrambled", Mr Smithwell added.

Medical expert Michael Grant White recently observed breathing the correct amount of oxygen can bring many mental and physical benefits, including improved sleeping processes, stress relief, headache reduction and even weight-loss.
