Oxygen News: Farrell opens up on new fitness regime

Colin Farrell beefed up for his latest role in Total Recall by raising his oxygen levels through plenty of running and weight training.
The 36-year-old spoke to Men's Health about the lifestyle turnaround he undertook to get in shape for the highly-anticipated blockbuster.
Born in Dublin in 1976, the handsome actor is not best known for his devotion to fitness but it appears to have given him a new focus.
He told the publication: "I don't put the same level of energy into healthy living as I did into unhealthy living.
"I put an enormous amount of energy into the destruction of my body and if I put the same amount into treating my body in a positive way, that too would end up being a sickness."
It seems the Irish star was inspired by his two sons to grab life by the horns and ditch his penchant for alcohol and drugs - two addictions he openly admits to.
In preparation for his title role in Total Recall, Farrell ran two miles six days per week three months ahead of filming.
He complemented this cardiovascular routine with an hour of weight training half a dozen times each week and stuck to a diet rich in green tea and vitamins.
Despite looking the picture of fitness, Colin admitted: "I'm somebody who a couple of years ago couldn't even run a mile."
Budding athletes might take heed of the actor's example and tread the pavements to get in shape before the end of the summer.
You only have to look at Farrell's sudden transformation to see how a balanced lifestyle of exercise and healthy eating can bring out the best in our appearance, not to mention the benefits it has for our minds.
Regular exercise helps release endorphins for a positive mind and should also help with concentration, sleep and confidence, so there's little reason to avoid it.
