Overcoming sight struggles for an oxygen boosting workout

Sometimes an oxygen boosting workout can seem like too much of a challenge for people with sight problems.

Although pure oxygen and fresh air can really revitalise your body, the difficulty posed by spectacles during exercise is often a deterrent to otherwise enthusiastic sports women and men.

However, Nick Dash, optometrist from Visual Edge Optometrists, suggested why contact lenses were a good alternative for fitness lovers who usually wear glasses.

He said: “Offering peripheral vision can often mean people have a better perception of their environment and so are less likely to suffer injury.

“Contact lens wearers are not blinkered by spectacle frames and do not risk the spectacles falling off, misting up or breaking.”

Studies have shown that almost half of existing contact lens wearers partake in some form of sporting activity, suggesting sight problems do not need to be a barrier to exercise.

One activity where contact lenses can be incorporated is running as the activity heats up the body, resulting in cloudy spectacles.
