NFL star 'recovering with oxygen equipment'

A National Football League (NFL) star has been using oxygen equipment to help him with injuries sustained while playing the sport.

Tim Tebow has utilised an oxygen chamber for more than two years, TMZ.com reports.

The Denver Broncos player had the apparatus delivered to his hotel room at the team's training camp, but the source noted he has been using the treatment since 2008.

Mr Tebow claimed he has been receiving some hard hits during practice sessions and believes the oxygen equipment will speed up any injuries picked up while training.

And it seems the practice is becoming increasingly widespread in American football, with athletes such as Hines ward rumoured to be using oxygen therapy on a routine basis.

New Jersey Newsroom's Evan Weiner recently claimed oxygen treatment is currently favoured among many ex-professionals of the game as well, due to the benefits it can bring for those who suffered head injuries.
