Music boosts motivation for optimum oxygen usage in training

There’s nothing like the sound of some fast beats and rhymes to get those energy levels up on a taxing training regime to boost oxygen usage.
But it seems the use of music is not only a theoretical champion for better performance as research proves it really does improve your effort levels.
Researchers at Brunel University revealed the right music can increase perceived effort by as much as ten per cent, Men’s Health reported.
That means the next time you step out onto the trail or tarmac for some ground busting footwork, you can only feel encouraged by that MP3 strapped to your arm.
Sports physician Dr Jeroen Swart also told the magazine that monitoring the distance you’ve covered can also improve performance.
The reason for this is that it makes you more confident about challenging yourself so you dig deeper and unlock more energy reserves.
Those tips could come in handy for anyone finding their training schedule for the London Marathon on April 22nd increasingly dull.
Recovery after the 26.2 mile race can be aided by the use of portable oxygen.
