Migraine sufferers 'more prone to hangover headaches'

Those who suffer with migraines are more likely to experience hangover headaches, a study has found, which could encourage people to invest in home oxygen equipment.
Research from the Jefferson Headache Center used a rat model in which headaches were induced by repeatedly stimulating the brain's dura matter with an inflammatory mixture.
Some of the rodents used in the study suffered from migraines and others did not.
The scientists found that the rats which received dural stimulation followed by alcohol had increased pain sensitivity.
Dr Michael Oshinsky, assistant professor of Neurology at the center, said the results show that migraine sufferers are more prone to hangover headaches, which could encourage some to purchase home oxygen equipment to treat them.
"Since these rats were sufficiently hydrated and the alcohol they received contained no impurities, the alcohol itself or a metabolite must be causing the hangover-like headache," he added.
Tim Hayward, from the Guardian, recently called on people to explore new ways of dealing with hangovers, meaning some may want to experiment with oxygen-enriched air.
