Might the England football team benefit from portable oxygen?

The England football team might wish to consider taking oxygen cylinders to the upcoming World Cup as they attempt to acclimatise to altitude changes in South Africa.

According to the Washington Post, nations have been trying out different techniques to ensure their players do not suffer from a lack of oxygen while on the pitch.

Matches at high altitude could affect the energy levels, mental acuity and recovery time of competitors and the England team considered sleeping in specially designed low-oxygen tents to prepare for the tournament, the source noted.

The French squad has been mountain biking through the Alpine resort of Tignes, while the Italians have spent time running in Sestiere, which was a venue used in the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Dr Russell's Health and Weight Loss Blog recently noted a balanced diet and oxygen therapy can help a person feel energised and can prevent them from becoming lethargic.
