Might oxygen equipment benefit tennis stars?

Tennis players may want to consider adding portable oxygen to their training regime to help better their performance.

IBT Health noted participants require oxygen to successfully compete in the sport.

The source observed: "Tennis promotes anaerobic exercise, which helps the body use oxygen more efficiently by alternating short, intense bursts of activity followed by rest."

Tennis is a game that can be played by just about anyone and at almost any age, the publication explained, as it allows for either relaxing rallies or fiercely fought bouts of endurance.

It added the activity enables players to burn off more calories per hour than cycling, skating and even aerobics classes, while also improving brain alertness as it requires tactical reasoning.

International strength coach Charles Poliquin recently argued footballers need to adapt their training regimes in order to make oxygen use more efficient in their bodies, as current practices are only anaerobic in intensity.
