Lifestyle changes can help to prevent migraines

People should consider preventative measures for migraines, rather than always having to resort to treatment, like oxygen therapy.
An article in the Canadian Medical Association Journal said there are a number of preventative measures that people can use.
It added that doctors should do more to advise people on the triggers for the condition, helping them to manage it through lifestyle changes, to avoid needing excessive treatment.
While oxygen therapy can be used to help reduce the effects of migraines, patients could take measures like avoiding alcohol, sunlight and caffeine to prevent them in the first place.
Menstruation is also thought to lead to migraine onset in some patients, meaning they can prepare for when they will need oxygen therapy.
Research included in the article showed that half of people in the study can reduce their headache frequency by half.
Recent findings from the Jefferson Headache Center found that migraine sufferers are more likely to get headaches in hangovers, which could be treated with oxygen therapy.
