Lack of oxygen 'causes tiredness and fatigue'

If the body's cells do not get 100 per cent of the oxygen they need, a person will feel tired and lethargic, it has been claimed.

According to Dr Russell's Health and Weight Loss Blog, one of the ways those using portable oxygen can improve the situation is to eat a balanced diet which provides all the nutrients they need for effective oxygen uptake.

People should look to consume foods which contain essential fatty acids (EFAs), as these are crucial in helping oxygen distribution to the cells and could mean the oxygen in a can will be more beneficial.

"Without sufficient EFAs, cell oxygenation becomes less efficient, which means the cell is forced to operate with reduced oxygen, which means you'll feel tired and fatigued practically all the time," the blog stated.

Those using oxygen therapy can find EFAs in a number of different foodstuffs, including nuts, plants, seeds and fish.
