Getting plenty of oxygen 'can help with hangovers'

One expert has said getting plenty of oxygen could help people minimise their headaches after drinking alcohol.

Natural health professionals at the Naturopathy Institute in Germany Maren Schmidt told Deutsche Presse-Agentur ventilating rooms might be helpful for those who find themselves having indulged a little too much during the festive season.

"The body uses a lot of oxygen to break down alcohol, which is why headaches develop. So it helps to sleep with a window open after partying," she explained.

It may be the case that carrying portable oxygen is helpful for some people, as the product is used to help individuals reduce the affects of hangovers.

Ms Schmidt also suggested drinking water before bed and between alcoholic beverages, as well as making sure the stomach is lined with high-fat or protein-rich food, could prevent feelings of illness in the morning.

Her advice could be a lot of help to Britons, seeing as recent research conducted by YorkTest revealed the average UK adult suffers four years worth of hangovers across the duration of their life.
