Gadget to prevent drivers falling asleep at the wheel
Tiredness when driving is dangerous and drivers are offered all sorts of advice about how to stay alert, including using oxygen therapy.
And now a Danish company, ASP Technology, which specialises in scientific-based solutions to help drivers stay alert, has unveiled a gadget to prevent drivers falling asleep.
The Anti Sleep Pilot sits on the dashboard and aims to keep drivers awake, preventing them from falling asleep rather than waking them up when they nod off.
It uses a combination of lights, tests and sounds to keep drivers awake while on the road, and measures your tiredness, signalling when a driver has reached a 'critical level' and advising taking a break.
"We've been overwhelmed by the response that Anti Sleep Pilot has had in Denmark and the US," Troels Palshof, CEO and founder of ASP Technology, said.
"It's clear that we have hit on a problem which is found throughout the world.
"Driver fatigue causes too many deaths in the UK and the summer is when many families find themselves making long journeys as they go on holiday."
Using portable oxygen also helps drivers to stay awake and alert while driving.
