Former NFL stars 'promoting oxygen therapy'

Oxygen therapy could soon become a staple treatment for injuries sustained while playing American football, it has been suggested.

According to New Jersey Newsroom's Evan Weiner, a number of former National Football League (NFL) players are pushing for oxygen treatment to be embraced by the sport.

The reporter noted the competitors would like to see oxygen equipment installed at training facilities and stadiums throughout the US, especially to aid players who suffer head injuries and memory loss.

Mr Weiner quoted an email from one such ex-professional.

"I am thinking about trying the oxygen chambers for my recovery as well as using the oxygen chambers to reduce some of the pain in my lower back that I suffer with daily," it read.

It was recently revealed a number of ex-American footballers planned to use additional oxygen to maintain their energy levels as former students from Napa High School and Vintage High School geared up to do battle against one another in a rematch between the two establishments.
