Drinking coffee 'is not a hangover cure'

Those who reach for the coffee the morning after a heavy night of drinking are doing themselves no favours, as it does not sober people up, which may encourage others to explore the benefits of oxygen therapy.
Research conducted by Temple University in Philadelphia, published in the journal Behavioural Neuroscience, involved two groups of mice which were intoxicated and then given caffeine.
They were placed in a maze and watched as they tried to negotiate it, with scientists concluding that the caffeine had no sobering effect on them.
Lead researcher Dr Thomas Gould said the idea that coffee can cure a hangover needs to be exposed as untrue, which may encourage people to explore oxygen therapy to cure future hangovers.
"The myth about coffee's sobering powers is particularly important debunk because the co-use of caffeine and alcohol could actually lead to poor decisions with disastrous outcomes," he stated.
As well as helping with hangovers, portable oxygen therapy is convenient and lasts longer than larger examples, according to the Miami Herald's Patricia Mazzei.
