Could David Beckham be set to undergo oxygen treatment?

Oxygen treatment could prove to be one of the therapies that David Beckham will undergo after the upcoming operation to his snapped Achilles tendon, it has been suggested.

Physiotherapist Sammy Margo tells CNN that the footballing star could be looking at a recovery period of up to six months following his surgery.

She says that his foot will be in a plaster for six weeks and after that comes off, post-operative physiotherapy can begin with oxygen treatment and a special trampoline both suggested by Ms Margo as potential therapies that may help the footballer enjoy a full recovery.

"David Beckham will no doubt have the very best treatment available, but while you can optimise recovery, you can't defy the laws of nature," she states.

According to Sports Injury Bulletin, several English football teams have used oxygen therapy to treat injured players in the past and found it to offer "excellent results".

The site states that one player enjoyed a 33 per cent reduced recovery time thanks to the benefits of the treatment.
