COPD patients 'need to purchase effective oxygen equipment'

There are inconsistencies in the performance of portable oxygen equipment from different brands, new research has found, meaning it is essential those who need it buy it from a reputable firm such as Oxyfit.

A study at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio tested four of the most widely-used conservers on the market and discovered that some were more effective than others for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), Reuters reported.

The findings, published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Medical Care, revealed inconsistencies with all of the products.

Joseph Lewarski, vice-president of Invacare's Respiratory Group, wrote to the news provider and pointed out that some portable oxygen equipment is highly effective in relieving the suffering of COPD patients.

"There is a large, and growing body of peer-reviewed studies that demonstrate that conserving devices are able to meet the clinical needs of patients at rest, during exercise and even while sleeping," he stated.

New York Daily News blogger Karen Barrow recently said that breathing oxygen-enriched air can be hugely beneficial to COPD sufferers.
