A 'fresh approach' to dealing with hangovers needed

It is time for the nation to adopt a new approach when it comes to dealing with hangovers following a heavy session of drinking, a writer has claimed.

Tim Hayward, from the Guardian, said that people have tried many different things to cure the pain of hangovers but few if any work on any consistent basis.

His own solution to the problem is to ask everyone he knows to leave him alone while he recovers, although others could explore the benefits of breathing pure oxygen to deal with their blues.

"We speak of remedies and specifics from ancient history and wax medical about the power of water to flush out the toxins; but it's to no avail," Mr Hayward wrote.

Those with home oxygen equipment may want to steer clear of whisky in future, as research conducted by Damaris Rohsenow, professor of community health at the Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies at Brown University, revealed that whisky causes worse hangovers than vodka.
