'Numerous people can benefit' from oxygen therapy

People who suffer from a range of disorders could find oxygen therapy a beneficial treatment for their illness, it has been suggested.

The Tennessee Hyperbaric Center in the US purports to remedy a number of ills, including closed heads injury, autism, cerebral palsy and Lyme disease.

Dr Roy Schmidt is the medical director at the facility and he explained how personal family circumstances resulted in him wanting to promote oxygen therapy.

The medical expert noted he and his close relatives had trouble obtaining the practice for his brother.

"After spending several years planning how we could offer this treatment to those who need it, it is finally a reality," he observed.

It is also hoped the method will help care for other ills, including joint-related issues, poor circulation and reflex sympathetic dystrophy.

Selwyn Facey recently took part in the Scottish Widows Parish Walk to raise money for the hyperbaric chamber in the Isle of Man, where he was treated after breathing excessive carbon monoxide 20 years ago, isleofman.com reports.
